Sunday - San Gimignano

We decided to drive to San Gimignano, a small town south of our castle and we thought we might also go to Sienna if we were feeling up to it.

San Gimignano is a beautiful ancient town (with heaps of tourists - so much so, it was very hard to find parking). Lots of cobblestone streets, stone buildings, shops and cafes.

We received regular SMS messages from James and Tamarra about the score in the NRL grand final.

Towards the end of our walk through the town, it started to sprinkle and so we decided not to continue on to Sienna.

Yet again, the trip back was an adventure. The shower turned into heavy rain and then into a thunderstorm. The freeway was slow because of roadworks. Finally, our navigation device (Gabriella) led us up the proverbial garden path. We followed her instructions until we decided we were lost. When we stopped, she thought we were still travelling and kept giving us instructions to turn left, right, etc.

We concluded that the thunderstorm must have affected the satellite communication. We turned her off and used sign posts, intuition and a little luck to find our way back to our castle.

For dinner we went back to the same restaurant at Montagnana for yet another fabulous meal. We told the owner that we will be back later in the week.
