Sunday - Shopping & Pantheon
After a late breakfast, Suzy & I decided to visit the Pantheon today. Pam & Ralf had different plans. We set off at about 11am. Suzy managed to find a few (million) shops on the way there and on the way back. The Pantheon itself was very impressive.
Rome is a great place. Every where you look and every time you turn a corner, there is something great to see (in amongst the leather shops).
Today we also made a couple of visits to the internet cafe. We needed to make a booking for accommodation for tomorrow night on our way to Bellagio. We had wanted to go via Pisa to see the leaning tower. Suzy saw a reference in the Michelin Green Guide to Viareggio (just north of Pisa) and we decided to go there.
Finding accommodation wasn't easy - partly because of language difficulties and partly because some hotels were already closed for the winter season. We had success in the end and printed Mappy instructions for our trip.
Originally, we had planned to go to a large park (Villa Borghese) today in Rome but we ran out of time.
In the evening, we had dinner again with Pam & Ralf. This would be our last dinner together on this trip because they were staying in Rome and then going to Venice and Paris while we headed off to Lake Como tomorrow.
